What is the Eliza Broadus Offering®?
In 1913, the Kentucky Woman's Missionary Union®, under the leadership of Eliza Broadus, established the State Missions Offering and Season of Prayer to promote and support missions within the commonwealth of Kentucky. From that time on, an annual observance of the a season of prayer and offering for state missions took its place along with those for International and North American missions. In 1976, the state missions offering was renamed to what we know now as the Eliza Broadus Offering for State Missions®.

The Eliza Broadus Offering® is promoted beginning in September. Each calendar year, the Kentucky WMU develops a giving campaign with a theme and featured missionaries. Each Kentucky Baptist church is encouraged to participate during the Week of Prayer, which typically begins the second Sunday of September. Because churches can continue giving throughout the year up until August 31 of the following year, we call our offering emphasis a Season of Prayer. Four ministry areas are featured during the Season of Prayer for Kentucky Missions. They represent sacrificial work taking place in cities, rural communities, and college campuses where lives are being transformed with the Gospel.
