SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
Because of the generosity of women in the past, Kentucky WMU is able to assist women and men with educational expenses. Using distributions from several endowment funds held by the Kentucky Baptist Foundation, Kentucky WMU awards scholarships based on the stipulations of each endowment.
The following scholarships are awarded by the Kentucky WMU Scholarship Committee. The committee determines scholarship awards based on application information. All scholarships use the same application form.
Scholarship amounts generally range from $500 to $1,000 with amounts varying from year to year according to earnings on investments. The application deadline is February 15.

Mrs. George B. Eager
For: Women in Christian Graduate School or Seminary
Criteria:
Established in in 1924, this is our oldest scholarship and honors Anna Eager, one of the Louisville women who led in efforts that resulted in the formation of the WMU Training School which was in operation from 1907 to 1963.

- Active member of a Southern Baptist Church
- Minimum GPA 2.7 (4.0 scale)
- Preparing for a vocational career in missions, social work or WMU work
- Preference will be given to full-time students

Snider-Creal
For: Outstanding members of Acteens, Challengers or Youth on Mission attending an accredited College or University.

- Students who are members of a Kentucky Baptist Church (KBC) and are currently involved in Acteens, Challengers, or Youth on Mission may apply during their senior year in high school. Scholarship will be applied to their freshman year of college.
- Minimum G.P.A. of 2.7
- Report examples of leadership ability in church, school, and community.
- Completion of one of the following: a level in the missions organization achievement plan (i.e. MissionsQuest); served as an Acteens state or national panelist; or served on a student missions team (Acteens Activators or other student mission team).
State Missionaries’ Children
For: Children of State Missionaries attending any Kentucky college or university

- Unmarried child of missionaries employed or approved by the Kentucky Baptist Convention (including MSC missionaries) actively involved in direct missions.
- Preference will be given to full-time students.
General Scholarship Information
- The primary focus of scholarships awarded through Kentucky WMU is to contribute to the education of students called to missions and ministry.
- Christian service* for the purpose of Kentucky WMU scholarship applications refer to serve as a pastor, church staff member, or other vocational ministry.
- Scholarships are approved by the WMU Scholarship Committee and the Kentucky WMU Executive Board.
- The scholarship Committee will determine scholarship awards based on application information.
- Scholarship checks are made payable to the student and the school.
- Checks will be sent to selected students in July along with verification of enrollment form which must be returned to the Kentucky WMU office.
- Applicants: Please read the application form and the scholarship criteria carefully before submitting an application. The Scholarship Committee will determine scholarship eligibility. No applicant will receive more than one scholarship. Please contact Kentucky WMU concerning questions about scholarship qualifications.
- It is essential that each application include first, middle, and last names, and social security number.
How to Apply
- Scholarship applications and reference forms are available online at www.kywmu.org/scholarships.
- Applicants are responsible for making sure references have a copy of the reference form and that they are returned to the Kentucky WMU office by the deadline.
- Applicants are also responsible for requesting transcripts from their school. Please follow up and make sure transcripts are sent in by the application deadline.
- Application deadline is February 15. Applications must be postmarked by this date to be considered.
- Don’t forget to include church involvement including GA’s, RA’s, Children in Action, Acteens, Youth on Mission, Challengers, and WMU.
- Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis and recipients must reapply each year.
