CONNECT: PRAYER FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT MINISTRIES
Join us in praying for International Student Ministries (ISM) across Kentucky. Each month we will post prayer requests from the Connect prayer coordinators on Kentucky college campuses. Please pray earnestly for many international students to come to faith in Christ and to grow as believers during their time in Kentucky. Pray for these students to be bold witnesses when they return to their home countries.
CONNECT: January 2018
Dear Friends of the WMU,
We hope you have had a wonderful start to the New Year! We have many prayer requests for this upcoming Spring semester of ministry. Please also keep M3, a cross-cultural ministry training that will be occurring on Feb. 2 and 3 in Lexington, KY in your prayers. International and American church members will gather “to learn to be missionaries and mobilizers of their Church to engage the nations near and far.”
Thank you so much for your continued support!

Please pray for our church in the following ways:
1) That our international sent Missionaries would thrive under God’s Word and by His spirit in their various settings.
2) That our Church’s Worship translation here in Louisville would be effective in impacting the Dari, Arabic, Spanish, Mandarin and Arabic language speakers of our city.
3) That the Matt Nagel family, seeking to raise support to head to Central Asia would be able to be fully funded soon.
Thank you,

Prayer Requests:
*connecting with new students, especially at Int’l Student Orientation on the 17th
*our international students who have left or are leaving before the semester starts, especially one Middle Eastern man who has converted since coming to WKU (Nandini and Bhargava from India, R and P and B from Iran)
*more strong personal relationships with international students
*connecting international students with families from local churches - that God would place ministering to international students on the hearts of believers and that God would orchestrate quick bonds between our students and the families they’re connected with
Praises:
*Colin and Sarah Woods have come on staff with WKU’s BCM to work with international students. They are filling the spot left by Jessie and Joel N.
*the opportunity to spend more intentional time with international students who stayed in BG over winter break
Looking forward to:
We have a few big events that we are currently planning including a spring break trip, an Easter egg hunt, and an event for international students + church training with Al-Fadi from the Connect Conference. Personally, I am looking forward to becoming better friends with new international students since two of my best international student friends moved during winter break. We are also looking forward to working with Colin and Sarah Woods and working to connect more international students with families from local churches.

You can pray for the new international students that are coming onto our campus-- that they feel welcome and loved. You can pray that the Lord would lead international students to us to love and share the gospel with. We have a couple of big events this semester coming up. You can also pray that relationships will be built that will allow for the gospel to be shared.
Praises:

I am looking forward to getting to know this new group of students and the international retreat that we will have February 9th-11th as well as our Spring Break trip to Gatlinburg.

Request:
New Semester, with new students. Opportunities to build relationships with students. Specifically this week the 9-10th is International Orientation and the time when most students will be meeting for the first time. Pray for boldness and courage to meet students and if opportunities to share the good news that we take those opportunities.Pray that the students would feel loved and welcomed as they arrive at CSU. Pray for laborers who want to reach students. Pray that God would start a revival.
Prayers for UOFL:
Pray that the ministry started will continue. Pray that the relationships we began building with students will be taken up by others who care deeply for students. Pray that those connections stay connected to the local body and to other students who want to share the love of Christ. Pray for Brett as he has moved and taken a new role and adjusts. Pray for the team that is adjusting to serving students on campus with a shift in leadership. Luke 10:02 that laborers would come to UofL. Pray that the Holy Spirit would be present and moving on campus in the hearts of internationals.
-Sonny (Returns in January from Chicago)
-David (Moved back to Columbia)
-Jake (Curious heart, that Christ would move in his life)
-Bouba (To go deeper)
-Nima (Moved to LA)
-Jim LeMaster (Leadership- connect dinners)
-Adam Burton (Campbellsville Campus)
What I am looking forward to:
I am looking forward to learning a new place with another student who does not know the lay of the land. In louisville I was able to show students places, however, in Colorado I am going to be experiencing places for the first time with these students and I think that will be a great way to relate to them. Also looking forward to being a learner with the new students and new campus, learning together!

Prayer requests:
What I am looking forward to:
This semester is ramping up in intensity, so I am unsure how much I will be attending international student events. However, I hope to grow in relationship and share the Gospel with my fellow professional school students. This New Year, I would like to refocus on finding my joy and strength in the Lord in everything that I am doing.
- That God would provide wisdom and boldness in outreach to students this semester
- There have been changes in leadership within our international ministry team. Please pray that God would guide new leaders and continue to work in the lives of previous leaders.
- Pray that God would raise a heart for internationals among students at the UofL Baptist Campus Ministry.
- Efforts in strengthening relationships with scholars who are on the Health Sciences campus. There is a Friday lunch Bible Study led by a pastor and his wife currently.
