but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.
1 Peter 3: 15

About the Theme:

Have you ever looked at the Great Commission and thought, " I don't feel ready."  Perhaps you don't feel ready emotionally, spiritually, or even physically.  You're not alone.  The truth is, many of us feel ill equipped to teach the gospel to ourselves much less to the ends of the earth.  That is why we are so excited for our 2022 Women's Retreat: Ready Yourself based on the command in 1 Peter 3:15.  Come explore a time where you and your group can renew your minds, refresh your spirits and imaginations, and refocus on the gospel/ Great Commission.

Come learn how to stop being merely vessels of grace and instead become vehicles of gospel grace.

Let's get back to the root of our faith and ignite a movement for the missional lifestyles portrayed in scripture.

Bible Study Leader: Carrie Jones

Picture

Carrie Jones is passionate about women’s ministry, biblical literacy, and all things leadership. She has a Master of Arts in Leadership from Southern Seminary and wants to see all women living out their God-given gifts, talents, and abilities. A former Illinois and Kentucky girl, currently, she lives in Indianapolis with her husband JT and daughter Rose Michelle with one on the way. She is a stay at home mom after teaching school for several years and works as the Work Done Well Coordinator for Women and Work, a ministry that hopes to inspire women through conversation and biblical content to honor God, image Him to the world through their work, and leverage their potential for His glory. She is also currently a writer for the Family Research Counsel’s two year Bible plan called Stand on the Word. She serves alongside her husband as members of a growing church plant and is finding new ways to encourage and connect with moms through Mums, a ministry for moms and other women's ministries. In her spare time, she and her husband love to travel, try new foods, and enjoy time together.

Missions Encourager: Shirley McDonald

Shirley McDonald was born in Texas and grew up in eastern New Mexico where her dad pastored. She received her associates degree in general secretary from Eastern New Mexico University and worked for several years in that field. She later graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in education. Shirley enjoyed teaching ESL and reading to students for 31 years. She has been actively involved in Woman’s Missionary Union all of her life: teaching G.A.s and Mission Friends and Youth on Mission; serving on the Erath Associational WMU Leadership Team; and taking mission trips. She served as president of WMU of Texas from 2014-2019 and is now Recording Secretary for National WMU. Shirley enjoys reading, singing, writing and laughing.

ABOUT THE bREAKOUT TRACKS
This year, we will be offering 3 different tracks from which each participant may choose 1.

After choosing their preferred track, participants will get to
  • renew their minds with information about the topic in session 1,
  • refresh their imaginations with opportunities for application in session 2
  • refocus on the gospel/ Great Commission in session 3.

Participants will have the exciting opportunity to delve deeper into 1 area of interest rather than skim several topics on the surface level.
  • Missional Living
  • Missional Readiness
  • Missional Action
<
>
The missional living track will help you evaluate the state of your personal mission, learn new strategies, and apply them with gospel intentionality.  The goal of this track is to help you identify your individual passion for missions and incorporate missions into their daily lives.
The Missional Readiness Track is designed for those who have already identified their personal passion for missions but desire to evaluate, learn, and apply practical strategies for missions engagement and evangelism.  The goal of this track is to equip you to faithfully engage your personal mission field with gentleness and respect and effectively communicate your personal missions passion.
The Missional Action Track is designed for those who are already feel equipped to engage their world with gospel intentionality, but wish to explore practical examples and application of lifestyle discipleship straight from the mission field.  The goal of this track is to learn from a North American missionary about life on the mission field, learn how to pray and support her mission, and determine practical applications for your region.  This track will help you move from communicating your personal missions passion to reaching the world.
aBOUT THE wORSHIP
Three women crossed paths last fall at First Baptist Church, Bowling Green, KY. After moving from Ohio in October, Lauren Parish is now serving as the Minister of Children. Carrie Redmon, a Bowling Green native, moved home from Nashville in 2020. She is a choir member and worship leader. After serving in the choir and leading worship for five years, Christina Dawson is currently residing in Houston, TX.  A divinely orchestrated intersection brought the group together and they are very pleased to lead worship for WMU Women on Mission Fall Retreat this year! Ready yourself, these ladies are preparing to lead us in worship, so that we may find refreshment in the presence of The Lord, refocus our hearts, and allow Him to renew our minds through His Word.
