Forethought. Thinking ahead. Planning for the future.
If you are concerned about the care of your family at death, then you need forethought. If you are concerned about an inheritance for your children or gifts for the Lord’s work when you pass on to Glory, you need forethought. We are told that a staggering 60% of Americans do not have a will and of those who do, 70% are not current. The ramifications of this on children, surviving spouses, on taxes and fees are immeasurable. There are many reasons for this including a fear of dying, procrastination, confusion about the whole process, the cost of creating a will and more. There’s a lot to think about and a lot of information to gather to do a good job of forethought about finances and such at death. Most of us could use some help. We at Kentucky WMU, in partnership with the Kentucky Baptist Foundation, want to encourage you to protect your family and be a wise steward of the financial resources God has entrusted to you. This takes forethought. The Kentucky Baptist Foundation can provide you with resources that will help you give forethought to your Christian estate planning. All of us need a plan, no matter the amount of our assets. Without a will, decisions regarding the distribution of any resources we have left at death will be decided by the state. With forethought, we can not only care for our families, but we can leave resources for the Lord's work. All WMU members are encouraged to leave a gift for the work of WMU. Among the ways this can be done is through a gift to the Kentucky WMU Heritage Fund or through the Kentucky Touch Tomorrow Today Endowment, which benefits both Kentucky WMU and National WMU. Scripture teaches us to tithe our income. If every Christian would also tithe their estate, the Lord's work in WMU, missions, Christian education, the Cooperative Program, scholarships, and many other areas of work would benefit until Jesus returns. The Kentucky Baptist Foundation can assist you in gathering the information needed to write a will, establish an endowment, gift annuity, or other legacy giving option. Let's all tithe now and tithe later! |
